Red Bank New Jersey Photowalk
The Red Bank trip was such a spur-of-the-moment thing. I have my friends to thank for dragging me out there. It’s a very what seems to be an upscale town but with a tranquil chill vibe. It’s like you get the best of Ghent (downtown Norfolk) and Hoboken rolled into a tiny little unassuming town! We made a day of it walking around taking photos and trying to find new perspectives and unique angles. Things like they always do pop out and I feel compelled to take the picture. Some images had to be coaxed out of me as reluctant as I was they all turned out very well. So, today let’s take a look at some of these photos and why I took the photo!
The Boondocks Fishery
The Boondocks Fishery stood out to me as we made our way to the water to observe the boats. I immediately was reminded of the cartoon but then stopped to wonder what “boondocks” means. Alone, Isolated, Remote and “boondocker” someone who loves the outdoors, wilderness, and Remote places. It was very fitting since this was the only fishery we could see and it was by the boat dock isolated and all on its own. I was sad that at the time of our visit it was closed for the season I look forward to revisiting this place “The Boondock Fishery” In red bank NJ and discovering more of what this place has to offer.
Olympus Greek-American Grill
Normally when visiting a place i wouldn’t talk about where we ate while we were there but after visiting this place I think I need to change my policy! Olympus Greek-American Grill in Red Bank New Jersey has to be hands down the best Gyro spot on the east coast! And I don’t say this lightly! we stopped in just for a quick meal and left with a much richer appreciation for greek food and what it can taste like. Any Food Critic that sees this please visit this establishment and let me know what you think. As i was leaving i snapped a quick photo of the Father who started it all the son just so happened to be working that day! I’d love to return with my family and have a much longer conversation about the history of their family own business!
Joseph Mary and Jesus
As we were traversing the town we stumbled on this beautiful church with beautiful stained glass windows. And so I was encouraged to the back of the church to explore more people saw us walking around taking photos and said nothing which made me more at ease to take more photos. This beautiful statue was towards the back of the church and has seen some damage from what we couldn’t tell but the patch job on joseph was visible and yet blended in. I felt compelled to take the photo in a way where it looks like a portrait since the statues were just above eye level. The photo came out amazing and also gives me confidence that when I do start portrait photography I feel like it will be just fine!
The trip was relaxing and had zero pressure and yet gems were found in the over 1k photos I took that day. Playing around with perspective / Framing and Lights.
